Nightmare

My job is to walk into many children’s minds and haunt them. Thousands of children’s minds. I’m excited that I will haunt my 10,000th child. This haunting will be bad, really bad. I want this kid to cry and cry until he can’t cry any more. He will scream and run to his parent’s room waking them. His parents will be so mad that he is waking them up in the middle of the night, again. Hopefully he will remember this dream for the rest of his life. He will cry about it when he is in his 40’s even when he is 100 years old. I want this kid to remember how bad I made him feel and he will remember the day, the time, the sweat on his forehead, the tears on his face, and the clothes he was wearing.

I will start the night mare at midnight. It will be on Halloween and I will have one week to plan it. Almost every parent tells their children that dreams only last 5 seconds. If I could actually talk to humans I would tell them that they are stupid. My record for the longest nightmare was five hours and I still can’t believe that the kid stayed a sleep the whole time. Even though it is sad to most people to see kids cry, I love it. It makes me happy and excited.

I’m ready and I have planned for one week. My boss gave me the address of all the bad kids who need a night mare. We are only supposed to scare bad kids but for my 10,000th scare I want to for once scare a good kid. I flip to the last page of the book where it says in capital letters NO MATTER WHAT, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL YOU SCARE THESE CHILDREN. Under this list it had all the children in the world that never did anything ever wrong. There were only about 50 kids on the list which is a surprise to me. I would think there is only 1 or 2 kids. Randomly I pick a child’s name and it turned out to be Jamal Jones.

After flying 100 miles I got to his house and I flew through his wall. His room smelled like a person had died in his room. By the way I have seen that. Anyhow, I looked on his floor and it looked liked the bottom was miles away and it turns out it was covered in clothes but I did not care. All I was thinking about was freaking the heck out of this kid. At first I thought this kid was six or seven years old but he was around 15 years old which excited me greatly. I flew up to him and I am struck with this great wind which I am used to but this was a blast. The worst part of that is it smelled like something rotting, rotting everything. It was terrible. I cannot even explain it was as if he lived in a bathroom and never flushed his toilet EVER. Instantly I threw up in my mouth, I swallow it, and got to the side of his bed. I looked over and saw some random kid on his floor. I saw his trash can with vomit in it. Now I am mad. I flew over to him and held my breath. Try to fly straight through his ear I get stopped because his ear is filled with ear wax. I pushed though it and I wanted this kid to scream. Next I flew into his brain and got into the nightmare section. Most humans don’t know but there really is a night mare section in the human brain. Finally I walk in and was about to start. My plan was about to start and I was filled with excitement and anticipation. Oh my gosh I just remembered that he has a friend next to his bed. When I scare Jamal so strongly, he will likely pee from the dream and it will get all over the friend. YES. Okay I’m ready.

I walk in and start and this is how it went.

Importance of family.

What would you do if your parents died when you were a child? Do you think that you could recover? Then you find out that your brothers have dropped out of school. The book “The Outsiders” is a great story that explains the importance of family and if you lose the support of your parents it could be a long road to recovery.

In the story “The Outsiders” the three brothers Ponyboy, Soda Pop, and Darry lost their parents in a terrible car accident at a very young age. They weny through many struggles and joined a gang. Soda Pop and Darry both dropped out of school but pressured Ponyboy to stay in school. If their parents were alive all three of them would not have been in a gang and would have been in school. In the story it says that Ponyboy smokes a lot. If he had real parents, not his older brother Darry acting as the parent, he would not have even thought to start smoking. The story also has parents who don’t care at all about their child along with dead parents.

Johnny, who is Ponyboy’s best friend, also struggles with family. His parents beat him and don’t care at all about him. He frequently comes to Ponyboy’s house and is found sleeping on their couch. If Johnny’s parents cared about him he would have been in school and also not in the gang. If he was in school he would have a better future and not ending up killing a Soc. In the story another Greaser struggles with his family.

Dally’s parents also abused him. At the age of eight he ran away from his home because he did not like his parents. To make it worse, his parents did not care at all. He also joined the gang and was often found at Ponyboy’s house as well. If his parents cared about him he would have had a better life than running around town and trying to find a home to sleep in. He would not have to worry about if Ponyboy’s family was home so that he could sleep there.

The story “The Glass Castel” by Jeannette Walls also talks about the importance of family like “The Outsiders”. The main character Jeannette writes about her family and their adventures. Her family was very poor and her parents were constantly spending their last bit of money on the father’s alcohol addiction. Her mother rarely went out of her house and was once found eating a chocolate bar under the bed covers when her family was starving. If Jeannette had a stable family she would not have had to worry constantly about if she would be able to eat that night. They constantly move around the city and tried to fit in. She could have lived a much better life if she had parents who cared about them.

The story “The Outsiders” was a great story that explains when you have dead parents, abusive families, or parents who don’t care about you, that your whole life will be changed entirely. Even though many people in the world have stable families, we need to be very thankful for what we have and not take it for granted. If all of these kids had good parents, it’s likely that none of them would have been in a gang. They would have been in school and not constantly getting in trouble. All of them need a good family.

Compare SPY! and Glass castle

The main character Jonah from the book SPY! By Anna Myers is a very similar character of the girl from the book Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. One of the biggest similarity is that they are both really poor. The two stories even one being historical fiction and one being non fiction have many things in common that the two authors did not even know about.

A big similarity in the two stories is that both of the kids really want to go to school. They beg and beg their parents to let them go to school but they never will let them. In both cases they find ways to go to school. Jeannette walks miles to get to school and Jonah also walks one mile to get to school. Both kids love being in school and do not take it for granted. Most people today do not care at all about going to school and wish for the days to be over but Jeannette and Jonah wish for the school days to not be over.

Another big similarity is that they both want to do something with their lives. Both kids don't like there families appreciation of money. Jeannette's dad drinks and never stops and her mom never come out of her bed room to see her kids. Her mother is a hoarder and hates going out side and her family is always struggling with money. Jeannette wants to get a job and never wants to worry about money. Jonah is pretty much the same. He want to go to get away from his parents and live in a nice house. His dad is always struggling with money and he also never wants to worry about it.

One of the biggest differences between the two is that Jonahs parents eventually are both dead. In the glass castle her parents are not dead but are never around. Her parents are never there to care for them but she keeps a positive attitude and does not let that bring her down. Jonahs parents die and it takes him a while to recover and even goes to the extent of finding a new family. Jonah can't live with out his parents and Jeannette just goes with the flow and does not really care.

At the end both books are similar in a very weird way and the authors did not even know about it. Even though there are some differences like family life there are some big similarities. The two books had great similarities and differences even thought it was never meant to be.

Cause and effect

In the story SPY! One of the main conflicts is the teacher getting hung. The teacher getting hung affects many people. The school that he teaches at now does not have a teacher since he is dead. His family is broken up since he is dead and they are all depressed. All of the people in the community are now sad since he died. The Brittan’s have scared everyone in the city and have “sent” a mental warning to not mess with them. If the teacher would have not turned into a traitor he would not be dead.

There is another part of the book were the second main characters dad died. He did not have a mother and now that his dad is dead he has to live with someone else. He is sent to a king’s house and has a massive house upgrade. Before he lived with his dad and sister in a small shack and now he is living in a mansion. If his dad would have not died he would still be living in a terrible house and would not have very much food to eat. This cause and effect is different from the man getting hung. With the man getting hung everyone around him is sad and hurt but with the boy it was second hand and it affected him but in a good way. It was bad at first then changed to a good thing.

Midnight Mystery

It is 10 pm in the house of adder when a crack of lighting strikes the houses window. The window shattered and glass flew all over the room. An old woman screams and runs to look at the window. She steps on all of the glass cutting open her feet. She screams I pain waking her husband. Her husband runs over to her also cutting open her feet with the glass. He falls on top of her crushing her left arm. She pushes the man off of her and runs to the window. Then she turns to her husband and tells him that she can't take the pain. She jumped through the widow and hit the ground at 50 mph. She was instantly killed since she jumped from a 25 story house. The old man stands up and runs out of the room to alert his family. A house alarm sounded that meant that there was an emergency. The buzzer stood for that everyone should meet in the living room.

"Okay is everyone here?"asked the old man "There should be 57 people here not including me."

After the old man gathered his family he sat down on his big fluffy old arm chair. When he set down a big cloud of smoke puffed out of the back of the chair. The old man coughed but he was used to it.

"I have all brought you her at 11 pm for some bad news that happened up my bedroom 15 minutes ago." Said the man. "My wife, Marge, jumped out of our window and died instantly."

Right when the man finished talking a big bolt of lighting struck and the whole houses power went off. The people were screaming but no one was hurt. For now.

When the emergency lights came on it was clear that a crime has happened. A long spike was through the old mans head and he was dead. The people screamed and ran over to see if he was okay. On the tip of the spike there was a note tied tightly with an old piece of string. A woman pulled it off and read it out loud.

"Hello everyone." said the woman reading the note. "I am the spirit of Marge Luccasson. I have came to say that all of you will die some time tonight. If you believe this please step to the right side of the room. If you do not please step to the left side of the room."

Ten people were standing on the left side of the room and the other 47 were standing on the left side. A loud crack of lightning went off and all ten of the people on the right side had long spikes through their heads. Each spike had a note on it that said the same thing.

"Hello again." said the same woman who read the note the first time. "If these people were still alive I would tell them to not always listen to me."

Everyone in the room ran to the kitchen to get away from the 11 dead people. When they got into the kitchen there was twelve knives on the table. A big note was hanging from ceiling that said KILL in big bold letters. Two men picked up all of the knives and walked them over to the garbage can behind the big wooden door they opened the door and walked down the stairs to the big garbage can. There was a flash of lighting and the two men were shot up into the room and were laying alive on the floor. They stood up and looked around. At the same time there eyes closed. The people in the room were looking around at each other trying to figure out what the heck was going on. Again at the same time there eyes opened but this time there eyes were bright red. Both of them opened their mouths and two long metal hands shot out of their mouths grabbing three people per metal hand. Knives shot out of there mouths killing all of them but two. Then both men fell to the ground dead releasing everyone. The two live men stumbled to their feet and ran to the others. At once all of the alive people ran up the stairs screaming.

A note was at the top of the stairs that said "Ha, ha you guys are done for. You all ran up stairs. Why would you do that? Have you watched the horror movies? Nothing good happens to the people that run up stairs."

A metal door slams down and everyone up stairs passes out. When they wake up there is a not that says "There are only 30 of you left. Your other friends have… let's just say left the world."

They all ran to the windows.

"We have to jump." said a man.

"I agree let's do it." replied a woman.

15 of them jumped out of the widow and we killed on impact. The rest of them wanted to survive. A circle was made with one man in the middle making all of the rules. A lightning blot went off and the power again went off. When the power came back on the man found all 14 people standing around him with long spikes through their heads. The man screams like a little girl and runs to the door. When he touched the door he got an immense shock that made him pass out. When he hit the floor his head cracked open and he bled to death.

"Ha Ha Ha that is what all of you get for not coming out and checking if I was okay." said a crazy voice from the basement o f the house. "I hope If this happens to any of you, that you will take charge at the beginning and not take charge at the end. Or learn from you mistakes and when lighting goes off to duck. Oh well I am off to haunt thousands. Oh wait and isn't it ironic that all of this happened at midnight. Weird."

Point of view

The story SPY! Is told third person and is explaining what all of the people are doing. It is told like someone watching it on TV. There are not many main characters but it does not really matter. At the start of the book it is clear that it is being told by a narrator. On page one it says "The boy, Jonah, wished it could happen at night, or at least in the evening, when he might have stayed unnoticed in the shadows, but he was forced to hunker low behind the rock wall." It says the boy and it says he a lot saying that it is being told as if someone was watching it.

The whole story would be different if it was being told by the young boy Jonah who was watching the hanging take place or if it was told by the man who was hung. The story starts at the end the tell show the hanging happened.

Sheila dies

“Good morning to this terrible, terrible day in America. Thousands have died and it all started like this.”

It was an April morning and a man woke you his wife in the spike of dawn.

“Are you crazy? It’s four o’clock in the morning!” Yelled Sheila. “Why the heck would you wake me up this early in the morning? Get out of my house.”

The husband furious stormed out of the house breaking the door. Completely thrilled, Sheila pulled out her phone to share the news. She wrote “Finally my stupid husband is out of the house. Do you think that he will come back? Hopefully not.”

Sheila’s husband ran out of the house and down the street. He ran into a police officer and was knocked on the ground. He started swearing uncontrobly and started attacking the police officer. The police officer was killed but got a sos call in on his walkie talkie. Right away thousands of police officers were after him. Then he quickly crossed to the other side of the street, hoping they would not notice him. After crossing the street he broke into a police car and started driving.

“I’m going to win and kill you all.” Shouted the man over the police speakers.

He started driving at 100 miles an hour. He hit a large building and there was a crash, like that of a window breaking, woke me with a start. Screaming in her sleep Sheila woke up. She was screaming so loud that it woke everyone in her apartment. She ran out the door and ran in to a tall man who she liked.

She looked up at the man and realized that it was the man that she looked. The woman thought “Oh, he’s wonderful…. I just wish he knew I existed. Oh wait now he knows I exist since I just ran into him. Yes.” The woman started running in joy and hit a window. The window was very cheap since she was in an old hotel. The window broke and she fell 500 stories to her death. Blood splattered everywhere and everyone around the impact area was drenched in blood.

Tell Tale Heart

Insane or Not Insane

Would you consider a man who took one hour to look through a doorway sane or insane? How about that he strangled a man with a hay pillow, then cut him up in a bath tub, opened up the floor boards, and put the cut up body under the floor boards and did not think about the smell, sane or insane? The short story “The Tell Tale Heart” was a great story explaining that when you find something weird about a person you will not forget about it and want to make it go away and will go to any precautions to make it go way.

In the short story “The Tell Tale Heart” a crazy man checks on an old man every night. He is making sure that he sleeps well during his last week of living. The reason for him wanting to kill the man is his eye because it looks like an eagle’s eye and he wants to get rid of it. On the night of the killing he walks into his bedroom and suffocates him with the old man’s mattress. After the man was dead he cut him up in a bath tub and hid the cut up body parts under the floor boards. Then the cops came to his house due to noise complaints. When the man showed the police the old man’s bedroom he heard a heartbeat. Although the old man was dead, he freaked out and told the cops that the dead man was under the floor boards. The man did not think that he was crazy and even stated that in the story repeatedly saying that he was not crazy. Many things in the real world relate to this story, not in the cut up body part but the people being crazy but not thinking that they are actually crazy.

I can relate to this story in having an experience that makes you feel crazy. When I was at Tae-Kwon-Do, someone from the Pewaukee Tae-Kwon-Do school showed me a video about two guys sparring. At first I thought she was just showing me the video to show me how I can improve in sparring. However, when the match started, it looked like something was going to go wrong. After one or two minutes into the match one of the guys looked like he was going to pass out. The other guy kicks the guy that looks like he was going to pass out and the guy falls to the ground and is knocked out. Then the attacker continued to kicked him in the head about ten times more before the referee came in and pushed him away. He was screaming at the knocked out guy as if he did something wrong. Even though things that I can relate to are important so are stories in the news.

On July 22, 2011 Anders Breivik set of a bomb in Oslo killing seven people right after he did that he went to an island off of Norway and started shooting children. He killed 87 kids in 90 minutes. The reason for this is that he was anti-government. Anders Breivik was dressed in a police outfit and told the kids that they would be okay. When the kids would come over to him he would kill them all. About 600 kids went to the camp. A better perspective of this is that he killed about 14% of the camp. Breivik did not think he was crazy at all even though he dressed in a police officer outfit and killed 87 children. Over all he killed a total of 94 kids. Crazy people aren’t always in real life people as act crazy in many different movies like the movie Cast Away.

The movie Cast Away is very similar to this story. In the movie, Tom Hanks Is stranded on an island and after a while he goes crazy. He accidentally cut his hand and threw a white volley ball at a tree. A little while later he picked up the ball and saw that there was a red hand print on the ball. Tom Hanks made a face on the blood stained ball and named it Wilson. Wilson was his friend for the rest of the movie. Later in the movie he started to get into arguments with his volley ball Wilson. At one point, he was going to hang himself off the top of a cliff and he used an “idol” that was his weight to see if it could hold him. When the rope snapped he decided not to try to kill himself. Later, when he was making his raft, he found the rope and used it to help build the raft.

In all of the stories mentioned, the common theme is that when something extreme or violent happens to a person, the memory of it stays with them for a very long time and can even make a person feel crazy. After thinking about how different people handle things differently, I think the man from the “Tell Tale Heart” was definitely insane even though he thought he was normal. Some people just handle tough situations differently.

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Author's note: The poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay" was from the book "The Outsiders." This is a response to the story about how it explains nothing good lasts forever

I think the meaning of the poem “Nothing Gold Can Stay” relates to the characters in the book “The Outsiders” because nothing good lasts forever. They get over excited in things that happen in their lives. The kids in the books parents don’t care about them so the kids are overly independent. When the church burns down Johnny and Pony looses hope and realize that they have to go home. Then when they were at the drive in and the socs came they realized that there is never a time when the socs are not around.

Conflict with Bob

When Johnny killed Bob in the book the book The Outsiders his whole life changed. At first it was a sign of self defense for his friend but it changed to a whole bigger conflict. They had to cut and bleach their hair which ruined their image. They also had to run away from their families. This makes both of them homesick. If Darry would have not slapped his brother Ponyboy in the first place none of this would have happened. Although Johnny says that it is his fault it could really be any of the boys fault. It could have been Darrys fault since he slapped him in the face. Also it could have been Ponyboy for running away he could have sucked it up and just gone to his room or hind in his yard. It also could have been Johnny fault for going with Ponyboy in the first place he could have just stayed home and not gone with him.

Johnny

Johnny is a week shy boy who is growing up in a gang. He is known as a dog in his gang and is a drop out. To make it worse he is beat up constantly by his parents and by the Soc’s. I think that Johnny is a good person not a bad person because he never complains about his daily beating from his parents. Johnny is misjudged because he is often beat up he probably looks week and looks like and an easy target. I think that Johnny will get hurt somehow just because of how often he gets beaten and that he is an easy target.

Are you Proud of Your Country

I am proud of my country because of all the things that we have been through and have gotten back up. Like on the day of 9/11 when the terrorist attacked our country. Even though 4 planes tried to kill as many people as they possibly killed we got back up and our country did not fall. Also the bombings like the bombing at the world trade centers and the bombing in Oklahoma. We have tough Americans who fight for our county and help keep us safe and that is why I am proud of my country.

Under The Dome

Chaos Under The Dome

Dear Dale “Barbie” Barbara,

I know that you always liked me and that you were hiding it. We certainly went through a lot together and I will always consider you a great friend. Junior was and evil man and I feel sorry for that poor girl that he killed Angie McCain. I remember when the dome came down on our city. All the cars that were hitting the dome and when that helicopter hit the dome I knew something was very wrong. I remember where I was. I was in my living room and I heard the loudest boom I had ever heard. I sprinted to my window and saw a HUGE fire ball. After the month of terror I went back to college to be a language arts teacher and we learned about this triangle thing that explains a book and how the scenes go. I’m going to try to use it on a real life situation and not a book and I’m going to do it on our crazy month together.

It all starts off with the exposition which is the characters, settings, point of view, and conflicts. The characters in our case were me, you, Junior, Angie, Rusty, Big Jim, and all the other people in the city under the dome. The setting, at the time, was peaceful like a normal city and at the end it was not peaceful anymore. The point of view was from the various characters and there were many conflicts as some people were trying to control the city and others were just trying to survive.

Then we have the rising action which in our case would be when all the people are crashing into the dome and killing each other like when Junior killed Angie. The rising action is all the things that lead up to the climax. The climax is “the point of no return” which means that after it happens there is no turning back and nothing will be the same. That month was a tricky one to explain because at first I thought that it was going to be all the people dying but then I remembered then I thought it was when we discovered the little plate that we touch that gave us that weird vision of the alien people. I remembered that when we saw that vision we could not leave everyone to die which would be the climax because we could not turn back and leave it be. You were so brave when you talked to the aliens and I’m thankful you made me talk to them too.

The falling action is next which everything that happens before the problem is resolved. On that month our falling action is the barn that exploded and sent fire throughout the dome. I remember that that explosion was even bigger than the helicopter explosion.

The last step is the resolution which is when everything is finally fixed which in our case it would be when you told me to talk to the aliens. Thank god you told me to talk to her because after a while she lifted the dome. I remember that feeling of cool air. It felt so good. I remember that we ran into the grass field and rolled around in the grass. The smell of that air, wow, I can still remember it. I’m actually tearing up right now.

Thank you so much for making me a stronger woman on the inside and on the outside. So I have waited to tell you until now. I have made a reunion for the 26 of us who survived. So if you can make it write me a letter back. By the way it is on 5/14/2012.

Sincerely, Julia Shumway

Mean on the Out Side Soft on the Inside

Ben Rogers was a mean boy. He would often make fun of a boy named Tom Sawyer when Tom had to work on white washing his fence. Ben went swimming while Tom worked. He would pick on Tom and call him names for having to work.
Tom was mad at Ben for being mean to him. He heard about an award show in which a neighborhood kid was going to win an award called Person Everyone Want to Be. In the afternoon Tom called his friend Sam knowing her mom was on the Award Show Voting committee. He asked her to rig the voting to have John Overran win. She secretly liked Ben a lot so she liked the idea to rig the voting but to have Ben win instead. Sam lied and said that she had to go because it took a long time to rig the votes. Tom fell in to the trap and believed him and hung up.
Right after Sam hung up with Tom she called Ben and told him that Tom want her to rig the votes. Ben asked her what she did and Sam told him that she was going to have John win. She did not want to tell Ben that she liked him so she lied. He instantly hung up and is last words were “I hate you.”
Later that week Tom, Ben, and Sam were at the award show. They were all sitting at the same table not speaking to each other. When it was time for Sam’s mom to present the Award for the Person Everyone Wants to Be the crowd went silent. She said “thank you all for coming to the 20th annual Awards show. The grand prize winner of $600 and the smashing trophy goes to……. BEN RODGERS.” Tom gave a dirty look to Sam and dashed out of the building slamming the door closed. The whole crowd turned to see what was happening. Sam smiled at Ben. She told Ben to go outside so she could set up a surprise. When Ben got outside he ran over to Tom. Tom asked him what he was doing there and Ben told him that he wanted to split his prize with him. Tom asked him why he was giving him some of his prize. Ben told him that he realized how mean he was to him and that he has changed forever. Tom rejected the money and told him to keep it and that he forgave him.
The next day Ben went over to Tom’s house and asked him if he wanted to play baseball and Tom said yes he would want to play. Tom offered Ben one of his gloves but Ben told him that he already had his lucky glove. When they got to the baseball diamond they played a nine inning game winning 27 to four. After that they decided to make a baseball team winning every game for two years straight.

Imagine being a four year old and your dad takes you to the ocean to play in the water for the first time. A huge wave knocks you down and you almost drown. To make it worse your dad laughs at you and does not help you up or help you get out of the water. The short story “Deep Water”, by William O. Douglas, was a great story explaining how when you’re young and something really dramatic happens, it will change your life entirely.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2004, there were 3,308 unintentional drownings in the United States, an average of nine people per day. As of 2004, fatal drowning remains the second-leading cause of unintentional injury-related death for children ages one to fourteen years old. With these outstanding facts, more people in the U.S. should realize this and pay the money to have their kids learn how to swim. Unfortunately the parents of the main character did not put their son in swim class fast enough.
An example of an accidental drowning was reported by the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office in California. On February 4, 2010 a woman drowned on the Sonoma Coast north of Bodega Bay. The reason for the tragedy was the 51 year old woman was chasing after her dog, which was swept up into the waves. Sheriff's Sgt. Dave Thompson said the 51-year-old woman and her boyfriend were walking two pug dogs along Portuguese Beach when one of the dogs was swept into the waves. The woman tried to save the dog and was also pulled into the waves. Her boyfriend, a State Park ranger, and another person were able to get the woman back on the shore. Unfortunately she had been in the cold water for about 20-25 minutes. State Park’s personnel gave the woman CPR before the Sonoma County Sheriff's helicopter arrived but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The dog perished and washed ashore.

Many fears come with almost drowning or witnessing someone drown. According to phobialist.com some of the fears that could come with almost drowning are hydrophobia which is the fear of water. Dinophobia is the fear of depth. People would be afraid of going in to deep places because when people drown it is usually in deep water and if the person would go into a deep place they would remember themselves almost drowning. Agoraphobia is the fear of leaving a safe place. People that have almost drowned would not want to leave the safety of their house because they would not want to risk falling into water and drowning.

The main character in “Deep Water” was bullied by his father because his father saw him almost drown and only laughed and the 18 year old boy at the YMCA swimming pool when he almost drowned the main character. People that have been bullied probably have many fears not necessarily about water but about being bullied. The two short stories “The Glorious Whitewasher” and “All Summer in a Day” were about bullying. All the bullies in the stories including “Deep Water” have things in common. First the bully picks on the weak and that’s how it is in, real life. All three authors of the short stories have probably been picked on in real life and they are expressing their feelings in stories by writing about people getting bullied.

Almost drowning is extremely life changing and very scary and that’s what William O. Douglas the author of the short story “Deep Water” explains. When people almost drown they get angry and feel like it is their fault. Anyone who has almost drowned is scared, but years later they will be able to conquer their fear, and live a happy life.

Break Your Heart

Break Your Heart( I think break your heart means a guy breaking up with his girl friend and to break up with her he sings it)

Woah Woah

Now listen to me baby (telling a girl something)
Before I love and leave you( he is going to break up with the girl)
They call me heart breaker (other girls he has dated have called him heart breaker)
I don't wanna deceive you( he does not want to trick the girl)

If you fall for me( if a girl likes him)
I'm not easy to please(he does not like every girl)
I'mma tear you apart(he is going to break her heart)
Told you from the start, baby from the start.( told her at the beginning of the relationship he was hard to please)

I'm only gonna break break ya break break ya heart. (x4)(He is saying he is going to break up with the girl)

Now listen to me baby( he is trying to tell the girl something)
Before i love and leave you( he is breaking up with her)
They call me heart breaker( other girls he has dated has called him heart breaker)
I don't wanna deceive you( does not want to mislead the girl)

If you fall for me ( if the girl really likes him)
I'm not easy to please(he does not like every girl)
I'mma tear you apart( I’m going to hurt you feelings)
Told you from the start, baby from the start.( saying how the relationship started)

I'm only gonna break break ya break break ya heart. (x4)( going to break up with the girl)

Woah woah

There’s not point trying to hide it( saying he does not want her to hide her feelings (i.e. crying, yelling, punching and so on)
No point trying to erase me( telling her to not try to forget him)
I know I got a problem ( saying he now he breaks with a lot of girls)
By doing this behavior (saying when he does this he…..)

If you fall for me (if the girl likes him)
I'm not easy to please(he does not like all the girls he dates)
I'mma tear you apart (going to make the girl go crazy)
Told you from the start, baby from the start.

I'm only gonna break break ya break break ya heart. (x4)
Woah woah

Blind man

“Bonjour, vieilami”(Hello my old friend). “Avance, mon ami”(Go ahead , my friend). Pierre would say every day to his white horse Joseph. Alongside with Pierre’s horse Joseph they would go delivering milk day after day. If anyone in the world would think that a man with cataracts would wake up every morning at 5:00 to go deliver milk could not succeed. Pierre does and breaks that belief. The short story “A Secret for Two” by Quentin Reynolds was a great story explaining that comedy does not always have to make you laugh it can also make you feel down.
Pierre Dupin an old man that has been delivering milk for 30 years grew a great bond between himself and his horse Joseph and when all the sudden his horse dies his whole life comes to an end….Literally. “Why a blind man could handle my route with Joseph pulling the wagon” Pierre would say.
“A Secret for Two” reminds me of stories on the news about people get hooked to a pet and when their pet dies they die shortly after because of being so depressed. The short story also reminds me of other stories about people who have a weird profession but the person that does the job loves their career and they stick with it even though everyone else thinks it’s a stupid occupation.
I enjoyed this story because it was entertaining and I wanted to keep reading. “A Secret for Two” by Quentin Reynolds was a great short story explaining that people in the world should never get to close to their pet and never judge a person by their look on the outside.
